Through it all, I learnt that:

• bathroom accessories can cost from $11 for a stainless steel toilet roll holder (wholesale price), $16 (retail price), or even hundreds or thousands of dollars
  
• mattress protector can cost from $18 (sale price) to $39-90 (normal price)
  
• mirror can cost from $4-80 (Toa Payoh Central shop), to $15-00 (NTUC), to hundreds of dollars, etc.
  

If you want to save money, you have to invest in time and effort in shopping so as to compare costs. There is no short cut. But it is worth it and deeply gratifying.
